MULTICULTURAL FAMILY SUPPORT GROUP

The Multicultural Family Support Group meets regularly at EDAC to discuss information, share experiences and learn new skills. Activities are organised including guest speakers, retreats and workshops on areas such as leadership, relaxation, health and self-care.

Development of a delivery program on training carers and facilitate the development of self-advocacy skills of those they are caring for and representing skills for the carers, focusing on cultural aspects.

MULTICULTURAL CARERS GROUP PROJECT- COMPLETED

Identify and address issues of support to maintain quality of care for their family member and ease concerns relating to their family member with disability will be capably and culturally appropriately cared for in the future. Hold a series of six workshops to address the identified issues through the use of appropriate experts in the area.


MUSLIM CARERS PROJECT- COMPLETED
(Joint Venture- EDAC and Muslim Women Support centre)

To establish a Muslim carers group to identify needs and specific issues relating to the community. Develop training materials to address the needs and issues for training of people with appropriate cultural and religious backgrounds to provide respite care for the families. The workshops are designed to provide support and friendship to sustain the group beyond the life of the project.
